The Heins Boys at the Museum of Science and Tech

Before Aunt Kaylee went back to school, we took a trip to the Museum of Science & Tech in hopes of wearing a boy out.

Nate’s First Black Eye

We took photographic evidence. It may be needed to prove our court case against the assailant.

Cheese!

Sarnia comes to town

Since I had Evan, I have been wracking my brain trying to figure out how to get to Sarnia to get my annual fix from my college friend and his wife and kids. I had just come to the conclusion that it just wasnt going to be possible when they told me that they were coming to us!

Well, to a cottage near us. Same thing. :)

Swimming!!

The boys and I packed up the car on Monday morning to go and visit Jenn and gang. We hadnt seen them in over a year which just speaks to how busy life can get. But something happened that caused me to call Jenn and share (I wont go into the details because its one of those inside jokes that is hysterically funny to those involved and means next to nothing to everyone else in the world) and we decided that we should get together for a visit.

Playing at Gramma’s

After all the boat-related fun, we went back to Gramma’s for lunch. It was so much fun to spend a few days at Gramma’s house. She does make it easy on a mom, that’s for sure. Evan was exhausted from his outdoors excursion to the locks (even though he did sleep through most of it)….and he had a good nap on Gramma:

A Day in Merrickville

After leaving the cottage I beelined it for Gramma’s house. It was my only hope to save my sanity. Nate was so happy to be at Gramma’s store. There’s sand there right now, so the trucks could be played with as they are meant to be. We hung out there until lunch time and then headed to Gramma’s house for lunch and nap, both of which were consumed with gusto.

We woke up on Wednesday and decided to take a trip to scenic Merrickville to watch the boats go through the locks on the Rideau Canal. We figured this would be right up Nate’s alley and boy were we right!

Off to the Cottage

For the record, this goes down in history as one of my worst decisions yet. Not because I didnt have a good time, I love spending time with my niece and sister in law. But with two kids, it was just too much for me to handle on my own.

Farm Fun with Grandpa Wayne

Since Dad is gone for the next nine days to canoe in the wilderness of Algonquin Park, mom decided to take the boys out to the farm for a visit with Grandpa Wayne. It was an early start to the morning with everyone in the house awake at 5 am. Dad was supposed to be up at four, but something happened with the alarm clock and we had to rely on our back up alarm: Evan.

The Weekend of Barbeques

So the weekend of the 24th and 25th were busy for the Heins boys. On the 24th we headed into Manotick for the District Nine Firefighter Family Barbeque. It was HOT! Yeesh. Evan spent most of the day in his diaper and Nate ran through the water with Dad. There were awards (of course), food, the previously mentioned water features, and baseball!! Nate was so cute standing out in right field with dad and his baseball mitt. Mom and Evan cheered them on from the stands. A good day, though we did leave early because it was getting too hot for the littlest Heins.
