The Weekend of Barbeques
So the weekend of the 24th and 25th were busy for the Heins boys. On the 24th we headed into Manotick for the District Nine Firefighter Family Barbeque. It was HOT! Yeesh. Evan spent most of the day in his diaper and Nate ran through the water with Dad. There were awards (of course), food, the previously mentioned water features, and baseball!! Nate was so cute standing out in right field with dad and his baseball mitt. Mom and Evan cheered them on from the stands. A good day, though we did leave early because it was getting too hot for the littlest Heins.
The next day we were off to Uncle Scott’s to celebrate Gramma and Mom’s birthdays. Evan started the day off right and pooped while Uncle Scott was holding him. That quickly ended the bonding session and Aunt Sami and Great-Aunt Annie fought over who got to hold Evan for the rest of the night. And Uncle Ty even forgave Evan for the peeing incident from a couple of weeks ago to have a cuddle!
Nate had a wonderful time and totally exhausted himself in a few short hours. It could have been all the playing he did with Odus and Uncle Ty and Great Uncle Scott….or all the walking. There was a walk with Great-Grandpa and Gramma to visit the construction trucks down the street and then another (much longer!!) walk with Uncle Ty and Odus. He was almost asleep on Aunt Sami’s shoulder a half hour before his normal bedtime! A great weekend for the boys!
