Farm Fun with Grandpa Wayne
Since Dad is gone for the next nine days to canoe in the wilderness of Algonquin Park, mom decided to take the boys out to the farm for a visit with Grandpa Wayne. It was an early start to the morning with everyone in the house awake at 5 am. Dad was supposed to be up at four, but something happened with the alarm clock and we had to rely on our back up alarm: Evan.
Once breakfast was consumed by all, I packed up all the necessities and the boys and it was off to the farm. We made a quick stop at Tim Horton’s so that I could get some version of caffeine into my system and then it was smooth sailing from there. Grandpa was waiting for us when we got to the farm.
Nate immediately went down to the barnyard gate and watched the one lonely cow wander the barnyard for twenty minutes. Evan woke up from his sleep so I had to go in and feed him. Nate and Grandpa played a rousing game of tickle monster:
By that time I was finished feeding Evan and we had to go and see the cow again. This time, we also saw the sheep. Nate likes the sheep a lot more now that they arent quite so noisy, though the cow was still the winner for Nate’s affections.
Back into the house for a game of hide and seek with Grandpa:
There was a lot of stories to tell and a lot of fun to be had. It was back outside to go for a tractor ride (probably the highlight of Nate’s day)
Then we said Bye to Grandpa so that he could go to the straw field to do some raking. We headed to Kristine’s place for lunch and a visit. Unfortunately, the day caught up to Nate and there was an epic meltdown mid-lunch. So Mom packed her boys back into the van and we headed for home. Nate gave into sleep about five minutes into the car ride.
…so I took the long way home. :)
