Summer 2011
I have no excuses, other than the mere idea of dragging my butt from the black hole of my couch to the office and firing up the computer had me totally exhausted. There was definitely some summer laziness happening in our world these past two months. We were busy…very busy. And as a result, any down time I could grab, I did.
Evan’s First Birthday Extravaganza
I cant believe Evan is already one. He’s crawling and sometimes he’ll chatter away. Depends on the day though. Evan is most definitely his mother’s son. Doesnt really care for a lot of people or noise, likes things a certain way, loses his temper on a regular basis….you know, all those fun Arnott/Chilton characteristics that we know and love.
And you may have to work to get a giggle, but its so totally worth it. Every smile and every laugh is that much more special because they are few and far between.
Nate and the Frogs
Its amazing the things that Jon will find and bring into my house. I draw the line at snakes and spiders, though.
The Heins Boys, June 2011
So in June, I went back to work (well technically I went back May 30th, but we’ll say June) and things took their sweet time getting to a manageable level. Thank God for understanding bosses and wonderful daycare. Without either I would have lost my mind. It was a little easier going back this time. Not because Evan made it easy, oh no, not my strawberry-blond boy (there is just enough redhead in him to make things interesting, let me tell you), but I was going back to a job I knew and I knew that daycare would do them both a world of good and it wasnt as much of a mystery to me.
Nate’s Third Birthday Extravaganza
As always in the Heins’ family, birthdays are celebrated over the course of a couple of days. First there was the dinner at Gramma C’s with Aunt Sami and Uncle Ty:
Nate Goes Fishing
Dad and Nate went on the Heins’ boys fishing long weekend this year. I personally had to keep myself ridiculously busy in order to not think about my baby not being in his own bed at night. There was a moment or two where I let my imagination get the best of me and I met them at the truck door the minute they drove up the driveway, but overall I think I did fairly well.
Nate of course had a BLAST. What’s not to like about a whole weekend with your dad, grandpa, uncle and great uncles? Jon came through on his promise to take pictures:
The Heins Boys, May 2011
Wow, how quickly time goes. It is July now and I’m way behind on the updates as my loving aunt has kindly pointed out to me (Hi Aunt Li) so while I may be short on time, I’m neither short on pictures or news, so hang on to your hats and enjoy the ride.
All the cool kids have one
…a moose call, of course. I hid it successfully for three years. Three years! It was really a matter of saving what few nerves I have left after a traumatic trip from Thunder Bay with my mother and aunt when I was in university. I still have nightmares…..
Mmmmm messy
There’s nothing like a drive and an ice cream cone from Dairy Queen. I only had to stop twice to wipe up. Once halfway through in hopes of not having to tear apart the car seat and wash the cover (success!) and once when the ice cream was done. Considering how much he got on him, I’m astonished it wasnt all over the van.
