Cottage Time!
Sunday we loaded the boys into the van at 7:30 in the morning and headed for Arnprior. Nate chatted up a storm the entire way there, Evan slept through it. We stopped in Arnprior for a tea for mommy, a bagel for daddy and timbits for Nate and then it was out to the cottage for Evan’s first visit there.
We only realized that the camera battery was dead when we got there, so we had to get aunt Carla to email us some pictures.
It was HOT! Whew. Nathan was quickly whisked into his swim trunks and life jacket and was down in the water with Gramma and his bucket. They played there for a good hour or more. There was a paddle boat ride in there too. Much fun was had. In fact, he’s still talking about the cottage. Evan, of course, slept through it. :)
Then it was on to the pontoon boat with Grandpa, Aunt Kaylee, Aunt Carla, Claira and Mommy and Evan. Daddy, Uncle Mike and James headed out on the sea doos. James, being fresh meat, was appropriately soaked about 5 feet from the dock. He only made it that far because there were babies on the dock and Daddy didnt want to splash them.
We had lunch at Great Grandma Peggy’s. Evan and Claira were oohed and aahed over (as they should be!) and Nate impressed just about everyone with his imagination and vocabulary. Sometimes its hard to believe he’s only two.
We all left there to go up to the Bonnechere rapids. Evan, of course, slept through it, but this time, Nate also passed out. I wish I had a picture of him on the boat, laid out on the seat with Cheezie dust around his mouth. It is a picture of pure contentment, that. He had a great, busy day, my first born.
We headed back to the cottage, Evan was too warm, so he was stripped down for his next feed. Daddy came in, stripped Nate down and brought him to the river to swim. And swim he did! He was a little hesitant at first, but he loves his daddy and knows that he is in good hands, so he was ‘jumping’ into daddy’s arms from the dock in no time at all.
Once Evan was fed it was time to pack up and go home. We had a quick stop at Dairy Queen (Nate like the ice cream cone better than the ice cream) and we were on our way.
Everyone was exhausted, so it was a quiet end to a very busy day!
